YOGA FOR PREGNANCY

Every Sunday morning 9.30am - 10.30am with Marion Loisance

This 60 minute pre-natal yoga class incorporates cultivating connection to your instinct and intuition, embodied movement, meditation, mindfulness, breath work and other tools for an active birth. You will deepen your connection with your baby, your body, and your breath, and be ready for birth.

For all the beautiful Mumma's to be, we would like to extend a warm welcome to you, and to experience our studio after 14 weeks.  We strongly encourage a gentle, modified Yoga practice starting in the second trimester.

There are literally millions of changes going on in your body in early pregnancy: physiological, emotional and (very) hormonal.
Even if you feel healthy and well, your body is working extra hard to create your own mini person and this is definitely a time to slow down, adapt mindfully to the changes and simply take care.

MUMS & BUBS YOGA

Every Monday morning 10.00am - 10.55am with Marion Loisance

It is recommended that women (re)introduce yoga around the 6-12 week mark after giving birth, and only once your care provider has given you the all clear.
With so much emphasis on pregnancy and labour, the post partum period is often neglected and undervalued.

This weekly 45 minute class goes beyond being a class with baby by your side. It is specifically for new mums to aid post partum recovery, both physically and mentally. This offering will support strength building, restoration, rest, breath work, mindfulness, confidence, and connection.

Please bring a yoga mat with you (or hire one from us), an extra towel to lay over a bolster if needed, a wrap or blanket (for baby) and any toys to keep your little one entertained. We will be keeping the studio space nice and safe for any creepy crawlies. We also suggest that you bring baby in a carrier of some kind as our entry way may be quite restricting for the storage of multiple prams.

Key considerations and important notes:
1. This class is aimed at women who are 6-8 weeks post partum.
2. Yoga practice should only be begun after post partum bleeding has ceased.
3. Babies welcomed until they're significantly mobile.
4. This class is intended to help support you in recovering from post labour fatigue, tone abdominal organs, and build up energy again.
5. Mum's are most welcome to attend, even if they have their baby in care with someone else (this is a post partum class after all).
6. Please bring along any items you need for your baby - these are totally acceptable to have with you during class.
7. If you had a c-section delivery, you'll need to modify and occasionally avoid some postures for a little longer than those who had a vaginal birth.
8. Experienced students of yoga are encouraged to be careful when rebuilding strength and not over work. Yoga after delivery is different.
9. Even if you feel back to "normal" the reproductive organs are still adjusting and slowly returning to their natural state, hence it is imperative to not be overeager.
10. Too much activity too soon may not cause an immediate problem, but could later on contribute to potential concerns.
11. Refrain from strenuous activity for the first 6 weeks. Restorative and supported yoga and breath work is ok from here. From 6-12 weeks one can begin a more active practice.
12. Please make the teacher aware if you're suffering from any physical condition that may inhibit your recovery, if you suffered any physical trauma during labour, and/or have suffered any Post Partum depression.
13. Please note, we will be leaving our front door 'open' during this particular class time. If Mother's are running late or need to leave early for any legitimate reason, we support and encourage that within reason.

WHAT IS HATHA YOGA AT TWINE?

With a focus on developing mindful awareness in every asana, as well as in the breath, this is a great class for students who are looking for a well-rounded practice.
A gentle, dynamic practice synchronizing body movement with the breath to align and connect mind, body and heart.
A challenging, yet invigorating practice with each teacher bringing a unique style and quality to this class.
Focusing on strength, flexibility and balance over 60 minutes - catering to all levels so there will always be a variation that is available for you.
At Twine, we are all about the slow movement, savouring the hours and minutes rather than just counting them.
Our Hatha Yoga practice is suitable for all levels of the practice.

WHAT IS vinyasa YOGA AT TWINE?

Vinyasa style yoga is a flowing sequence linking breath with movement. Set to challenge the practitioner with different shapes and transition with moments for deep introspection. This class is great if you want to focus on building strength, heat and flexibility.
Our Vinyasa Yoga practice is suitable for all levels of the practice.

WHAT IS YIN YOGA AT TWINE?

Yin Yoga is slow, quiet, passive and challenging.
Working the 'yin' tissues of the body. Strengthening our
ligaments, joints, fascial networks and bones with a focus on exercising the denser connective tissues of the body.
A practice that encourages us to stay in
a particular pose for a longer period of time, with an emphasis on stillness to awaken us to the present moment. A suitable practice to open up channels of energy in the body, which have been blocked or a little stagnant.
A great class to pause and a beautiful way to compliment your dynamic flow classes.

Our Yin Yoga practice is suitable for all levels of the practice.

What is Yang/Yin at Twine

The integration of two powerful energies.
We start the class dynamically (yang) and end the class with longer held poses (yin) to relax and calm the nervous system - Think organic flow, muscles, heat and then visualise deep, connective tissues and absolute stillness over 60 - 75 minutes.
Our teachers ask you to respect your body at all times, but to challenge your mind if the opportunity arises.
Leave feeling revived, refreshed, balanced and supported to tackle adversity with power, strength, patience and love.

Our Yang/Yin Yoga practice is suitable for all levels of the practice.

What is myoyin at Twine?

Combining self-massage (Myofascial Release) and Yin Yoga, 'MyoYin' restores deep relaxation to all parts of the body, mind and nervous system.
We start using balls, blocks and other tools (such as your rolled yoga mat) to release tension, adhesions and trigger points, which are often the root of limitation to our range of movement and bodily pain. Then, through long-held postures, we rehydrate the body-wide network of connective tissue (fascia), freeing up energy that is trapped/blocked so that it can feed the brain, central nervous system and vital organs.

Throughout the class, with a focus on mindful breathing and inner sensing, we will employ deep listening to our intuition and the wisdom of our own body to reliably point us in the direction of healing and integration.
This therapeutic practice can lead to profound changes in our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing, by experiencing the uninhibited flow of prana (life force) and a deeper connection to self.
Our MyoYin practice is suitable for all levels of the practice.

What is Yoga Nidra at Twine?

Yoga Nidra is a very profound practice that offers you the opportunity to dive into deep rest, rejuvenation and to heal and revitalise your body and mind.
Yoga Nidra is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping, a state where the body and sensory mind are completely relaxed and the yogi becomes systematically and increasingly aware of the inner conscious realm by following a specific set of verbal instructions.
When practiced regularly and long term, you access a great ability to transform your mind in a very specific and empowering way.
We will use specific practices to yoke together the mind and breath to awaken a unified awareness within your being.
You’ll be guided through the entire subtle body to unify breath to dissolve into the sacred intelligence of prana. You'll be guided into your parasympathetic nervous system to restore your body and immunity as well as deep healing.
In a very fast paced world this practice is vital to healing from the stressors we face in our life.
Our Yoga Nidra practice is suitable for all levels of the practice.
